OVERVIEW 2007
LegalTV, the law firm in your living room, is the UK’s only dedicated legal television station. It is freely available to over 15 million people in 8 million homes via Sky satellite on channel 215. Many of the programs are also available for viewing online at www.legaltv.co.uk. The comprehensive and diverse show schedule aims to meet the legal needs of the general public. Legal TV prides itself on its public service broadcast element an aims to assist people with all matters legal and provide entertainment with legal themed drama. LegalTV first started broadcasting in February 2006. The company is privately owned and is located in Birmingham.

SCHEDULE
LegalTV features a wide and diverse range of programs that span across entertainment, documentaries, legal advice, and live phone-in shows. Many of the shows are produced in-house at the state of the art studios, but LegalTV also prides itself on having the exclusive rights to broadcast Granada’s legendary Crown Court series, and MDA, the Emmy nominated Australian drama.

BARB RATINGS
Since 1st December 2006, Legal TV has been watched by over 4.7 million different viewers, averaging over 300,000 viewers a week. In January 2007, the weekly reach increased by a further 10%. LegalTV has a strong viewer profile aged 35+, these being predominantly 35-44 year olds at 51% of all adult viewers (vs a multi-channel average of 23%). Legal TV has a high upmarket appeal in the peak viewing segment (1800-2200 hours ) at 73%, making it a top 10 profiling station versus other multichannel stations broadcasting within this timeband = 200+ barb measured channels. Crown Court has proved popular within daytime and peak schedules, peaking at ratings of 0.08 ave tvr.The new SUE shows have proved extremely popular with a younger audience attracting viewers in the 18-35 age profile.

FACILITIES
Much of the content for is produced at legalTV’s very own state of the art studios in Aston, Birmingham. The high standard of facilities and resources allows shows to be pre-recorded or streamed live on the Sky network. Examples include Your Law, Immigration & Asylum, Employment Law Q&A, and What’s the Story newspaper review. LegalTV also has the capability to film outside broadcasts around the U.K. and regularly includes footage and vox-pops from members of the public airing their legal grievances which are then analysed and advised upon by legal experts.
The legalTV team consists of highly trained researchers, producers, directors, technical support, post production, and presenters. The combined effect is a high quality professional show schedule.

SHOWREEL
LegalTV features a wide and diverse range of programs that span across entertainment, documentaries, legal advice, and live phone-in shows. These include:

Crown Court
The legendary daytime courtroom drama that ran for over 14 years on Granada TV. Re known for its cutting edge storylines and independent jury made up by members of the public, the series also showcased many of the faces that dominate our screens today, including Bob Hoskins, Ben Kingsley, Brenda Fricker, Patricia Routledge, Richard Wilson, and Connie Booth.

Crown Court Revisited
A light hearted discussion show comparing changes in legislation since the original screening of Crown Court in the 70’s and 80’s. Each guest will be given a copy of a particular episode to watch, and the show will discuss all the issues and laws raised. The show is presented by Rachel Harvey-Jones.

Your Law
An hour long daily show offering free legal advice to viewers. The programme looks at various areas of law including personal injury, family Law, and criminal law. Subject areas are as diverse as wills and inheritance, motoring offences, and property boundary disputes.

The Red Line

The Red Line is a weekly show that covers the latest legal developments and issues relating to its growing audience, from legislation on an evenings clubbing, to the legalities surrounding the internet. The often light-hearted programme aims to develop the understanding of the law as well as highlighting the impact it has on our everyday lives.

Morning Live
Every morning, live on Legal TV, the Morning Live panel take an analytical look at the day's newspapers. The team probe the meanings behind the stories and asks it audience on their perspective of the news. The programme welcomes any contributor with a view on the news and a charismatic personality to match the programme’s pace and style.

Employment Law Q & A
Employment Law Q & A is Legal TV’s new advice show, offering direct advice for all work-related queries. Presented by Dean Heeley, the programme probes any query, whether from a disgruntled employee or an agitated boss through its phone lines and roving employment sofa. The Q & A team are interested to hear from any employment Solicitor who are interested in sharing their expertise with the programme’s increasing audience.

The Immigration and Asylum Show
LegalTV’s Immigration and Asylum is a daily question and answer programme, which allows our viewers to phone in and receive advice from a specialist on their immigration and asylum matters. We are always seeking new contributors, as we feel new faces will keep the show fresh and interesting.
